Located at the heart of Bear Flat in the City of Bath, at The Bear you will find a warm welcome and friendly service.
We offer an impressive range of drinks, proper chef-led homecooking, a lovely bar, original 50's & 60's retro furniture and Snowy, the well-loved life-sized polar bear and listed Bath landmark, sits over the entrance.
We are open every day from 10am for coffee and cake, Lunch is served from 12pm - 2.30pm and Dinner from 6-9.30pm. We offer great wine and local ales along with organic juices and Somerset cider. Brunch is served on Saturday from 10.30am- 2.30pm. Our popular and family-friendly Sunday Lunch is served from 12 noon until 3pm.
Recently we welcomed Nathan Squirrell into the fold. Nathan is a highly experienced barista with a passion for coffee which ensures that our wide range of amazing coffee and speciality tea is all made to perfection. To complement these we have a selection of delicious homemade cakes and pastries. Whilst we think our coffees are amongst the very best in Bath - you really should come and see for yourself.
We welcome children. There is always healthy children's food from each of our main menus. Hungry or not, they can sit at their own mini vintage table and chairs and play with the wooden toys we provide, or, ask one of the staff for colouring crayons and paper.
We also welcome dogs. All we ask is that you keep them near at all times.
What else? Free WIFI; comfy sofas; large car park at the rear of the pub; covered smoking area at the back; large outside seating area; art exhibitions; legendary monthly quiz (first Sunday of each month); book swap library plus many events & parties.
We are also establishing ourselves as a live music venue with a fortnightly 'Open Mic' accoustic night (2nd and 4th Thursdays) that has contributors from the surrounding counties.
Finally, it goes without saying that we'd love you to Celebrate at The Bear. We have a private dining area which is perfect for parties. Our expert pastry chef can produce a celebratory cake, and we're more than happy to sit down with you and prepare a special menu of your own. If it's a buffet you're after, you can choose from one of our buffet menus more suited to your budget.
Weddings - if you fancy an original venue with better value and more fun than you'll ever have at one of those stuffy places, then call us to talk about the wide range of options that should ultimately be made by you, not us.
