We have a wide range of excellently conditioned local ales (Butcome Bitter, Sharp's Doombar, London Pride, Otter Bitter and Wickwar BOB) and cider (Addlestones and Stowford Press) on sale that sit perfectly alongside our selection of European lagers. Our wide wine list covers current favourite trends whilst tempting you with some lovely surprises from smaller growers.
We also love our organic juices, locally made apple and pear juices whilst morning coffee and afternoon tea are on offer all day with our delicious homemade cakes and cookies.
Menu
Our menus change each month, to reflect the seasonal produce on offer from our local suppliers & markets. In addition please ask staff about daily specials and lunchtime meal deal.
The Bear kitchen is run by French chefs , so expect to find some wonderful Gallic dishes such as Coq au Vin or Boeuf Bourguignon alongside expertly cooked British classics. Jo, our accomplished pastry chef, produces amazing cakes & cookies, as well as delicious puddings. She can create celebratory cakes to order.
Brunch is served from 10am-11.30am Monday to Friday, a full lunch menu from 12pm, or our special 2/3 course set lunch Mon - Fri. We also serve a soup and a casserole midweek from 2.30-5.45pm to nourish those empty bellies that mised lunch. Dinner is from 6pm, and Sunday lunch is served each week from 12-3.00pm that places a traditional roast alongside other pub favourites. All menus are available to download below.
We have a great children's menu on offer at lunch & dinner, and a kids play area with mini vintage chairs & table, a little stove & colouring. We do advise booking to avoid disappointment.
